From a Game Developer to a Future Engineer
GameGo is a programmable game console that supports game programming on MakeCode Arcade. It provides students the opportunity to gain programming knowledge and creativity by making and playing games.
This class focuses on basic techniques and elements for creating an arcade game, such as character control, projectiles, cooridinates, dialogues, etc. It also introduces key skills and concepts for creating a complex arcade games, such as maps, game levels, conditional statements, arrays, etc.
Students can customize their own game & load them onto their own pocket-sized console.
The class aims to help students to understand and learn the software and hardware knowledge required for game development. We start with a simple game, based on graphical programming, gradually advancing to make a relatively complex, multi-level and story-telling game project.The Game Development class also provides a large number of game examples for students to understand programming concepts and principles through improvement and optimization.
At the end of the class, student will take home their Handheld Console (MSRP $59.99) as well as a Micro:Bit v2 (MSRP $29.99)
This is an 8 week-long Instructor Lead class that follows a strict curriculum, only 2 make-up sessions are allowed for each 8 week period. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Make-up sessions must be scheduled by appointment on Mondays or Fridays. Make-up sessions must be scheduled within one week of the missed class.
A minimum of 3 students are required in order for the session to be held.
